Gender&Science

The Gender&Science group was launched in 2014 with the aim of acting as an external observer of gender biases within the AIL, fostering women’s visibility within the scientific community and proposing recommendations for improving gender equality in institutions related with limnology.

OBJECTIVES

The general objectives of the AIL Gender and Science Commission are:

  1. To act as a gender observatory within the AIL by i) studying the professional and personal situation of its female members, ii) analyzing the possible causes that hinder the scientific career of female researchers, and iii) elaborating and monitoring the AIL Equality Plan.
  2. To propose, promote and develop gender studies directly or indirectly related to Limnology, in collaboration with other professionals and institutions.
  3. To foster and visualize the role of women scientists in Limnology within the scientific community and society.
  4. To propose measures to various institutions (public and private) aiming to remove barriers for women in the field of Limnology in particular and in science in general.

The Comission is formed by different working groups that are open to everybody. some of them have permanent character and others temporary, depending on the activities they develop. If you want more information or are interested in joining, get in touch!!
